True Mom Confessions: Brought work home ? and made my family do it ...

Yes, just like that. I have a few more reports I need you to type.

Sometimes it?s just impossible to leave work at the office.

You know what I mean. Paperwork you didn?t get to finish. Or a bad encounter that you just can?t put out of your mind.

Your family has to deal with it ? your moods, your distraction, the phone calls.

In my business, I?ve taken it even further than that at times. I?ve asked my kids to find a friend willing to be in a photo shoot for an feature article (we used to use our own kids until we did it so much the higher ups asked us to stop). For a year or two, when my oldest was in middle school, I wrote a blog about her tween experiences and asked her to write for the blog, too. I?ve asked the whole family to help judge contests.

Then a couple weeks ago, after receiving a wok for my birthday, I got the brilliant idea to cook every meal in the wok for one week and write a story about it. So my family had to eat stir fry every night for a week. Such good sports!

So I guess I actually put my family to work for me, which is very similar to bringing work home.

For this week?s True Mom Confessions, we want to hear how your job affects your family.
