Dates coming from Israel are being circulating in a number of shops and markets of Morocco during the current month of Ramadan, according to Alarabiya.net. The dates bear serial numbers as well as addresses and phone numbers of companies and factories from Israel. The episode has been denounced by some pro-Palestinian activists in the country.

The activists who have been always against any sort of normalization of trade relations with Israel denounced the presence of the Israeli dates in the Moroccan market. They regarded such incident as ?insulting the feelings of Moroccans and a support for the Israeli occupation of Palestine.?

In this regard, Khaled Sufyani, coordinator of the National Group for the Support of Iraq and Palestine, said that promotion of the Israeli products is a disregard towards efforts and sacrifices of the Palestinians who struggle against the Zionist occupation.

On the other hand, Dr. Ahmed Arrissouni, a Moroccan Muslim scholar, has already issued a Fatwa prohibiting dealing with imported dates from Israel, saying that buying, selling and importing the Israeli dates is Haram or religiously forbidden.

Mohamed Benjeloune Alandaloussi, the president of Moroccan Association for the Support of the Palestinian Struggle, in his turn condemned the presence of Israeli dates in the Moroccan market.

?In the past, Israeli dates used to enter Moroccan markets under fake names for camouflage, but now it is done in the most blatant manner,? he said.

He went on to say that such matter highlights the government?s growing process of normalization of relations with Israel.
